About Me

Monrita Tate is a longtime educator that enjoyed strategically incorporating butterfly gardening and the butterfly life cycle into the curriculum. After many years of sharing the novelty of the metamorphosis of a caterpillar to a butterfly in the classroom, she attended a professional butterfly breeders conference to learn more. Soon after the conference, Milkweed and Honey Farm was born from the Bible promise of prosperity through a land flowing with milk and honey (Deuteronomy 26:9). Milkweed and Honey Farm raises caterpillars for hobbyist or educational rearing, butterflies for release, and host and nectar plants. Monrita’s current research focus is on the preservation and conservation of native butterflies through releases.
